  • Putting a Fellows class together is an art more than a science. We want a group that will work and learn well together. Learning from and sharing with one another is a key component of community in the Briarwood Fellows Program. We like to have candidates from a wide range of universities and personal backgrounds.

The ideal Briarwood Fellows Class has a broad mix of academic majors, interests, personalities, and life experiences. We look for individuals who will bring to the program a passion for learning and service as well as a love for God’s word and his people. There’s no checklist of traits we look for, but these are some of the things we like to see:

    • Maturity in the Christian faith

    • Teachability, a willingness to learn and grow

    • An inclination toward leadership and service to others

    • An eagerness to learn in a community setting

    • Strong academic performance

We do have a few specific circumstantial requirements which must be true by the beginning of the program:

    • Applicants must be between 21 and 25 years of age

    • Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

    • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States

    • Applicants must not be married or have children

  • Families from the church offer to host Fellows as they feel led by the Lord, and the program works to place Fellows in homes that best suit each individual. Fellows get private space for their belongings, and often share meals and food with their families.
